I'll grant you that in the United States our two big political parties never nominate a candidate of, by, or for poor people.  Nonetheless, we have now established a pattern of stolen elections, and we have NOT taken over our nation's capital to demand justice.  This fact alone would make me ashamed right now not to be a Mexican.  The Mexicans are doing the only sensible thing they can, the only thing that can prevent a slide into far more serious dangers.

Next week marks a pivotal moment for the California Impeachment Resolution (AJR39). Advocates will be lobbying legislators in the California Assembly and holding a press conference on Tuesday August 8th at 9:30 am with Assembly member Paul Koretz (author of AJR39) and various other legislators, advocates and celebrities. At the press conference, we hope to present thousands of names on a petition to the California legislature.

Can you name the one country on earth where the government can steal elections, strip away basic rights, spy on citizens, and launch wars based on lies, but where the people do not take over the nation's capital in protest?

WHY

Many previous presidents and vice presidents have committed one or two of the following crimes.  Never before has any approached this total level of assault on the Constitution.  If we do not impeach now, we never can again, and the legislative branch will not maintain power over the executive or judicial.  We will be unable to end the war, stop global warming, fund education, challenge stolen elections, win elections, or accomplish any of our other goals.

On Monday, July 17, 2006, at Fox News headquarters in New York City, Rupert Murdoch hosted a fundraiser breakfast for Hillary Clinton.  Then he rushed off to a fundraiser lunch for John McCain, and Hillary rushed off to announce her unqualified support for Israel's and Bush's war policies.

A radio show reported yesterday that Republican Texas Congressman Ron Paul said the following:

"I would have trouble arguing that he's been a Constitutional President, and once you violate the Constitution and be proven to do that I think these people should be removed from office."

Suzanne Swift's story begins in an all-too-familiar way. A dead-end job, a friendly military recruiter, a promise that signing-up as military police would mean no deployment to Iraq, a broken promise, and a trip to war. Then it takes a less commonly heard of turn, one involving a practice known as "command rape." Suzanne is back in the U.S. and is refusing to return to Iraq.

Congressman Jim McDermott became involved in politics through his opposition to the Vietnam war.  He came to Washington 17 years ago hoping to create national health coverage.  Instead he's spent much of his time opposing new wars and war crimes.  McDermott's record on matters of peace and war is unsurpassed in the Congress.  On the matter of impeachment, however, he has lost all interest - as has every incumbent Democrat since Leader Nancy Pelosi decreed that impeachment should be "off the table."

Well, the Senate Intelligence Committee, under Republican control, and with very polite (OK, almost nonexistent) Democratic protest, has yet to hold hearings on the Iraq War lies, but today the Senate Democratic Policy Committee held a Hearing on the model of Rep. John Conyers' Downing Street Memo hearing: no subpoena power, but great witnesses.  And a Republican even came: Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina.
